During the evaluation session, M.A. Hoang Kim Thuy presented an overview of the research process, methodology, major findings, and the practical applications of the project. The study focused on developing a self-study exercise system integrated into the University's Learning Management System (LMS) to support first-year non-English majors in improving their English reading comprehension skills through a digital learning environment. The system was designed to promote learner autonomy, encourage independent learning, and provide students with flexible access to learning materials anytime and anywhere.
Following a comprehensive review, the Evaluation Committee acknowledged that the project had been conducted systematically, with a solid theoretical foundation, appropriate research methodology, reliable data analysis, and well-supported findings. The Committee highly appreciated the project's innovative approach to effectively utilizing the LMS to design structured self-learning activities that align with current trends in digital transformation in higher education.
In addition to its academic value, the project demonstrates significant practical relevance. Its findings provide an effective model for organizing self-directed learning activities that can be widely implemented in English courses for non-English majors at Hong Duc University. The study contributes to improving teaching and learning effectiveness while fostering students' autonomous learning skills and English reading comprehension. Moreover, the LMS-based exercise system serves as a valuable digital learning resource that can be continuously updated, expanded, and integrated into other language courses. It also offers useful guidance for lecturers in designing digital learning materials and implementing blended learning approaches.
The project makes an important contribution to the ongoing innovation of English language teaching by promoting competency-based instruction, enhancing learner autonomy, and supporting the University's digital transformation initiatives. After reviewing the presentation and discussing the research outcomes, the Evaluation Committee offered constructive recommendations for further refinement of the project and unanimously approved its acceptance. The Committee commended the researcher's dedication, careful preparation, and the project's strong potential for practical application in English language teaching.
The successful acceptance of the project once again demonstrates the research competence and academic commitment of the lecturers at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. It also reflects the Faculty's active contribution to promoting scientific research, educational innovation, and digital transformation at Hong Duc University. More importantly, the project exemplifies the close integration of research and teaching, contributing to the continuous improvement of educational quality and the University's sustainable development.
